The world has gone mad. Yes, the world has gone utterly crazy.
Firstly, America invaded Iraq, and now, what progress have they made? They've been dithering and hesitating over what to do and have stupidly allowed the guerrilla forces to regroup, re strategize and re organize themselves. Many of the cities there don’t even have the three basic necessities of food, water and electricity yet! And everyday now, you hear of at least one more Coalition soldier dead, or another bomb blast, or another speech by Bush asking for more funds, but do you see anything happening? No! The people of Iraq haven’t even been able to resume any semblance of a normal life, for God’s sake! And how many months has it been since America and the coalition of the willing invaded Iraq? Nearly a year! It’s been eight goddamn months since the first troops set foot on Iraq. And to tell you the truth, they haven’t really accomplished much apart from end Saddam’s reign in that country. I think Bush has handled the entire issue quite badly. I mean, think about it. He has masses of troops sitting in Iraq, feeling completely helpless because it isn’t as if they’re doing anything good or effective there, just trying, but failing to keep the peace. He has also delayed the setting up of a government, or even a police force. And what is more, he has so many troops there, that a large amount of the funds goes to their pay! Although they aren’t doing much there, on the other hand, they can’t leave, because if they did, all hell would break loose. So they wait, and wait, and eat up money, and do their best in preventing a civilian war.
And while they do that, their Middle Eastern Allies suffer.
Turkey was bombed just a few days ago. Twenty seven people died in one bomb blast, and four hundred people were wounded in another. Have we all gone mad? I don’t understand why people feel the need to take human lives or, well, any life for that matter. What makes them think taking lives is going to change anything? It isn’t as if one makes people understand through murders! Cold-blooded killing just makes others despise you more, it doesn’t clear anything up. Who next? Egypt maybe? How about Mecca? Or maybe the Vatican City?
And in China, a man recently confessed to killing sixty five people, often entire families, and then raping the women. What about the Green River killer from Seattle, who targeted prostitutes and runaways, and killed forty four of them before occasionally having sex with the corpses?
Flip open the papers at any time of the year these days, and I guarantee you, you’ll find at least five articles about killings or grisly finds. Like in today’s paper, the body of a fifty-year old man was found floating in the Bedok reservoir, or something to that extent, and in the weekend Today paper, a girl’s kidnap was reported in the Philippines.
What is the world coming to?
This sort of news only makes one wonder when the US’ next report on ‘terror attacks’ wil be.
The world is slowly becoming deranged.
