'When you step out of this place, you will no longer be a prefect with a bolero. But I think you should all still hold on to the values that you had as a prefect...'
---Mr. Ang to the Sec Four Prefects.

The tiger lily is sitting in a blue vase alongside a large pink rose, in the corner of my room. The tiger lily gives off a wondrous, almost delicious scent. It fills my room, even with all its open windows, and settles comfortably around my nose, teasing. Various notes and letters sit on my bed (bad habit, I know), many covered with smiles, hearts, and unseen hugs. From friends and fellow prefects who have all come so far and grown so much. All of whom I am extremely proud of.

SCPB '04/'05. SCPB. The Prefectorial Board. I have spent all my years in SC as a member of this Board, and I think I can safely say that this year has been my most satisfying, most fulfilling, and most beautiful.

It is packed with so many happy memories, so many brilliant flashes of sunlight and so many vibrant shots of laughter, happiness and joy.

And yet I know, that if I wanted to frame and capture each shot, I would never be able to. Each one is so beautiful and precious that to frame it; to box it in would be almost an insult in itself.

These photos are meant to be displayed prominently on the kitchen table, to be thumbed through and examined closely and carefully until the faces have faded away and the gloss rubbed off by too many fingers.

They are meant to be shared, and remembered, close to your heart.

I know I will never, ever forget these wonderful times I have had with the Board. They are a second home to me, a second skin. I will remember and cherish every word said, every smile, every hug, every meeting and every discussion.

And of course, it is quite impossible to forget all the EXCO meetings that we have had. Those meetings in particular, the official and unofficial ones, will remain carved into my memory forever.

Really, the SCPB grows on you. One does not just like it. By the time you leave, you will love it with all your soul and heart, with the kind of fervour usually only reserved for the country.

I think I can say that I have made many life-long friends here in SC, and especially in the SCPB.

I know these people will probably remain constants in my life, and even if we drift apart, we wil always find each other again, because we are all tied together by a bond stronger than tempered steel, and it will stand the test of time.

That bond was forged in SCPB.

I will keep these memories, of sun-flooded photos, rain-drenched happiness, runs, tears and hugs, safely locked away, to be taken out once in a while.

And one day, when we are all old and senile, when we have all but forgotten our childhood, we can all sit down together, look back, and smile.
